Sara Proença, our visionary CEO, brings a dynamic blend of entrepreneurship, people-centered passion and unwavering motivation. Sara is dedicated to making a positive impact by overseeing The Square’s day-to-day operations. Leading a diverse team of around 40 people working in both Portugal and Spain, she draws on over 15 years’ of experience. While she started her career as a financial analyst in capital markets, her charismatic profile soon led her to the field of communications. Prior to founding The Square, Sara’s journey took her to three different continents, working at renowned communication agencies, both in Portugal and Brazil.
Sara holds a Business Administration degree from the Lisbon School of Economics & Management (Portugal), a postgraduate degree in Communication, Marketing and IT from Fundação Instituto de Administração Business School (Brazil) and a master’s in International Management from Université Grenoble Alpes (France).
Highly committed to work and to her family, she’s a proud mother of three girls, striving alongside her husband to provide them with a solid foundation for life’s journey.

A natural entrepreneur, Sofia has been leading clients from different sectors such as Mobility, Innovation, Technology and Fintech and is now working to expand The Square into the Spanish market.
Sofia holds a Communication Sciences degree from Nova University (Portugal), and started her entrepreneurial journey on the board of an NGO, managing the launch of a cultural magazine, leading a dedicated team of five.
Her agency experience, spanning both public and private domains, showcases her versatility and strategic acumen.
Sofia’s pragmatic and passionate approach has yielded excellent results and forged enduring client relationships.

Sara is revolutionizing Iberian PR, propelling tech and startup ecosystems forward. At The Square, she spearheads media relations and content-focused communications strategies for a diverse range of companies. With a background in scientific communication, she also worked at a sports federation and a multinational video game company.
Sara holds a Business Administration degree from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and a postgraduate degree in Marketing Management from Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Portugal).

Rosa joined The Square at the very beginning and excels in PR strategies for sectors such as Sustainability, Circular Economy and Energy Transition. Her journey began in a communication and marketing agency, igniting her passion for this field. Rosa holds a Communication Sciences degree from Nova University (Portugal) and a postgraduate degree in Marketing Management from Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (Portugal).
Known for her determination, passion, and love of challenges, Rosa finds inspiration in the sea of her beautiful hometown, on the Alentejo coastline.

Meet Ana Pedro, a talented PR professional, with a wealth of in-house and agency expertise in B2B and B2C.
She holds a Communication Sciences degree from Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (Portugal), and having begun her professional career as a journalist and editor in health, human resources and tourism publications, Ana has since been acting as a senior specialist in renowned communication agencies for the past 15 years.
Along the way, she has also managed communications and marketing departments in NGOs, innovation institutes, and more, before joining The Square’s multidisciplinary team.
In her spare time, she’s an art, book, and piano enthusiast who loves to travel.

Meet Sara Cardoso, a pivotal player at The Square, devising digital & PR communication strategies to foster client relationships, engage target audiences, and amplify organizational messaging.
Armed with a Communication Sciences degree from Nova University and a master’s in Marketing, Communication and New Media from Bologna Business School, Sara worked in various Lisbon agencies before pursuing a master’s and experience in Italy’s pharmaceutical industry.
Before returning to Portugal, Sara decided it was time to fulfill the lifelong dream of traveling for 3 months in Southeast Asia, before committing to a new professional challenge in the transportation industry.
Sara is a natural team player – a decade as a volleyball player might have helped.

Meet João Camilo, a specialist in the new mobility and tech sectors. With a Biology degree from the University of Lisbon, his transition from lab coats to communication led him to a Science Communication master’s from NOVA FCSH. (He used to be in a creative writing club in middle school, so was this change that surprising?)
After that, an internship in a renowned research center and years-long experience in communication within the higher education sector, led to him taking the step to keep on learning through the challenges posed by industries where the only constant is change.
A cinema buff and photography enthusiast, João’s determination fuels his wholehearted commitment to every project he dives into.

Meet Joana Cidades, a storyteller weaving narratives while managing strategic PR & content plans for a variety of organizations, including corporations mostly in the circular economy, energy and tech sectors,helping her clients reach their communication goals.
Her journey from managing Real Estate websites to content roles in IT consulting, mirrors her adaptability. A Communication Sciences graduate from Nova University (Lisbon), her passion for digital realms led to a Digital Marketing postgraduate degree from ISCTE (University Institute of Lisbon).
In her free time, Joana embraces reading, yoga, documentaries, and lifelong learning.
